SAFETY ONBOARD
Your safety is our No.1 priority on our RIB tours.
Please take the time to read our safety files which are below and we are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
- Your Skipper is Fully Qualified: Your Skipper is fully qualified for the category waters around Bute and in the Firth of Clyde, and they are also commercially endorsed by the MCA.
- Safety is Paramount: Safety is paramount in everything we do. Believe it or not, it’s possible to be safe and have fun at the same time. Your Skipper is trained to a high standard and is covered with a First Aid Certificate. All our boats operate under strict regulations and in line with the company’s safety management system (SMS).
- Risk Assessed: All of our operations are carefully risk assessed. The vessels comply with the strict guidelines enforced by the MCA. The Vessel is inspected by an appointed surveyor to ensure compliance. All the vessels are equipped with safety items as set out in the regulations. This includes but not limited to: Life rafts to carry everyone safely | Lifejackets for everyone on-board | VHF radio’s | Thermal protective aids | Pyrotechnics for raising an alarm | First aid equipment | Firefighting equipment | Radar Reflector.
- Training is Key: Training is key to prevent skill fade, and demonstrate that all of the planning and preparation during drills would be instinctively carried out if an emergency event were ever to occur.
- Questions or Concerns: Every effort is made to have safety at the forefront of everything we do. Should you have any questions or concerns ahead of a tour then get in touch and we can discuss this further.
How many passengers can Commando One accomodate?
Commando One can take a maximum of 12 passengers plus crew.
How long does a trip last?
The length will depend on the trip you have booked and all timings are available for each trip on the booking information.
Is there anywhere to store items on the boat?
We have limited storage space onboard but there is some storage under each seat where small items can be stored during your trip. Just remember to take them with you before you leave the boat.
Are there any age, height or weight limits for passengers?
Our trips and tours are recommended for age 7 and above but younger children are welcome on board if under strict parental/guardian supervision. Infants can sit on a parents knee. We do not charge for under 3s but they are treated as a passenger for our maximum capacity requirements. We have no height or weight restrictions.
Do you provide any waterproofs if it is raining?
We don’t supply any waterproofs so dress for the occassion. Out on the water, you are more exposed to the elements so a jacket is a good idea.
What if I change my mind. Can I get a refund?
As we have limited spaces on our tours, having empty seats is not cost effective and not something we want to have, so to this end, we don’t offer refunds if you change your mind.
What happens if you are unable to sail?
If we are unable to go out on a trip due to weather or other issues, you will have a choice of re-arranging the trip for an alternative date or we can issue you a refund or gift card.
What safety items are supplied for a trip?
We supply life jackets for everyone on-board and have life rafts to carry everyone safely should they be required. We also carry thermal protective aids, first aid equipment, fire fighting equipment and pyrotechnics for raising an alarm. Our boat is equipped with a radar reflector, vhf radios and gps.
